Sweetwater Brewing Company

195 Ottley Dr NE, Atlanta, GA 30324
(770) 876-0251

The most well-known brewery in the region is likely Sweetwater. They make some top-notch beers and have a festival called the Sweetwater 420 Fest in Atlanta throughout the summer when hundreds of people congregate to enjoy some amazing music and malty brews. The founders of Sweetwater opened their first brewery in 1997 in Atlanta, although the idea really started in Boulder, Colorado.

From Wednesday through Sunday, they provide 20-minute excursions. However, the schedule varies a little around the holidays. In addition, the brewery often offers live music while it is open for tours. Try out the stouts offered in most pubs and retail establishments around the state and have some fairly fantastic tastes.

Terrapin Beer Company

265 Newton Bridge Rd, Athens, GA 30607
(706) 549-3377

Visit the Terrapin in Athens if you prefer drinking beer in tranquil outdoor settings. This dog- and family-friendly brewery has been operating out of its present site since 2007. It specializes in unusual brews that blend well with this college town’s creative culture. The Hopsecutioner, a year-round, well-balanced IPA, is one of the most well-known beers made here. Weekly tours are provided.

Creature Comforts Brewing Co.

271 W Hancock Ave, Athens, GA 30601
(706) 410-1043

A few highly skilled homebrewers founded Creature Comforts, which replaced Snow Tire Co. in the heart of Athens in 2014 and has since become a favorite among locals and tourists alike. Check out a few of their seasonal beers and new brews, which are always posted on their website, or get a taste of the Reclaimed Rye, Bibo, or Athens from their year-round collection.

Wild Heaven Craft Beers

135B Maple St, Avondale Estates, GA 30002
(404) 997-8589

Right in the amazing town of Decatur, Wild Heaven Craft Beers began its production under the watchful eye of lifelong Georgians. There are tours for everyone. If you like live music and food trucks, this is a terrific brewery to check out on the weekend. You may also swing by to buy bottles, and cans or fill up a crowler, up to 72 ounces per Georgia law.

Second Self Beer Company

1317 Logan Cir NW, Atlanta, GA 30318
(678) 916-8035

This brewery released four beers in October, and the tasting room was among the top new bars in Atlanta. Since then, the Georgia Tech scientists who founded the brewery have put out six delectable seasonals. They are about to put out cans of the two year-round beers, the fiery Thai Wheat brewed with ginger and lemongrass and their famous Red Hop Rye.

Red Brick Brewing Company

2323 Defoor Hills Rd NW, Atlanta, GA 30318
(404) 355-5289

From Wednesday to Sunday, tours are available, and from their wide window that provides a roomy sight of the brewery warehouse, it’s occasionally possible to witness the beers being produced. The location, which takes pride in being the oldest microbrewery still in business in the state, may be reserved for parties. The establishment’s doors were first opened in 1993 by a former Guinness official, and ever since, a variety of beers have been offered.

Their emblem has been incorporated into the skull that appears in the logo of Vortex, a famous burger place in the city, as a result of the partnership. Hoplanta, Laughing Skull, and Beard Envy are just a few of their great beers, but there are many more to choose from both in shops and at their brewery. On Fridays, they have live music events, and on Thursdays, they host trivia evenings.

Monday Night Brewing

670 Trabert Ave NW, Atlanta, GA 30318
(404) 352-7703

The focus of Monday Night Brewing is on producing some vintage artisan brews. Even though they offer seasonal beer, they also have certain favorites like Blind Pirate, Eye Patch Ale, and Nerd Alert. Their brewery has a community-focused initiative with origins in a Monday bible study night, open space, and skinny tie event.

Three Taverns Brewing

121 New Street, Decatur, GA
(404) 600-3355

Following some influence from Portland and Belgian beer, Three Taverns launched in 2013. Like many other breweries, this one was inspired to create beer and now offers some Belgian-style beers and fantastic IPAs. One of their brewmasters recently relocated to the United States from Belgium to impart his brewing knowledge. The name of the establishment is derived from a Latin term stressing the ideas of community and resurrection. The structure features a dedicated experimental area dubbed the “Imaginarium,” where they try out various recipes and concoctions that some visitors to the brewery may also like to sample.

Reformation Brewery

500 Arnold Mill Way, Woodstock, GA 30188
(678) 341-0828

Reformation Brewery bases its operations on six basic values: acceptance, narrative, authenticity, moderation, humility, and comedy. They want to improve people’s perceptions of beer by producing three kinds of craft beer. Reformation, which started as a little home brewery, is among Georgia’s brewers with the quickest growth rates. The Reformation Brewery firm prides itself on pleasant company and discussion while sharing its brews and offers frequent tastings and tours.

Best Breweries with Food

Here are a few great breweries to get some tasty food with your perfect pint.

Bold Monk Brewing Co.

1737 Ellsworth Industrial Blvd NW suite d-1, Atlanta, GA 30318
(404) 390-3288

There are many places to sit within the two-story Underwood Hills brewery, which also has a small bookstore on the mezzanine. The shaded beer garden also has fire pits for chilly times. You can find anything from light Saisons and crisp lagers at Bold Monk to seasonal and limited releases, like Irish stouts and Russian imperial stouts aged in their bourbon ASW Fiddler barrels. Lamb burger, steak fries, Belgian fries, and a grain bowl go well with beer.

Elsewhere Brewing

1039 Grant St SE Suite B34, Atlanta, GA 30315
(770) 727-0009

This brewery in Grant Park’s Beacon neighborhood has a busy (and dog-friendly) patio outdoors in addition to a pleasant taproom with a full bar inside. Elsewhere is something the owners, Sam and Sara Kazmer, refer to as a drinking hall with cafe vibes. They drew inspiration from the local Bavarian beer gardens, English pubs, and Belgian cafes they visited in Europe years ago. Pilsners, dark Czech lagers, Bavarian hefeweizens, and Saisons go well with the dumplings, crispy Brussels sprouts, pimento cheese, and barbecued pork collar with delicious black-eyed peas that are served here. Check the calendar for the weekly drag shows and live music events.

  1. There has been a shakeup amongst Georgia breweries. I’m not sure about the status of Second Self and Red Brick. Check their Instagram pages.
