Premiant hops originated in the Czech Republic, released in 1996 as a result of crossing a bitter American male cultivar with a Czech aroma variety. With Sládek and Northern Brewer in its genealogy, this hop was aimed at producing a dual-purpose variety.
The flavor and aroma profile of Premiant hops is earthy, floral, and herbal, featuring notes of fruit, lemon, and lavender. Its muted aromatics and neutral bitterness with no harsh aftertaste make it a popular choice for beers without a strong hoppy character.
Premiant hops can be used for brewing Czech Pilsners, Belgian Pilsners, Belgian Ales, French Ales, and German Ales.

Premiant Hop Substitutions
Replacing one hop for another is seldom straightforward but sometimes you don’t have the right hop or the right quantity of hops for the beer you want to make. For those situations, we have made a comprehensive list of hops to substitute on brew day.

Beer Styles
For the most part, any hop could have a place in just about any beer style. Based on popular beers, historical usage, and our own preferences, we would recommend using Premiant for IPA, New England IPA, Pale Ale, Wheat Beer, Golden Ale. That being said, experiment and see what works best for you.
