The Best Breweries In Minneapolis, MN

Updated on

Minnesotans are beer aficionados. What evidence do we have to back up this claim? Every lake has its own official beer, and there are tons of breweries around the city.

Check out the must-have best breweries in Minneapolis here. These are all excellent beers.

Bauhaus Brew Labs

1315 Tyler St NE, Minneapolis, MN 55413
(612) 276-6911

This new brewery (launched in 2014) focuses on putting a distinctive spin on traditional German-style beers. From the beers tenderly kept in the house to Bauhaus-inspired cans, the experience is seamless. It’s also continually increasing its output. The distinct Sky Five Midwest Coast IPA is a non-German must-try, and you’re probably better served at the brewery’s huge Minneapolis taproom, which has a full schedule of quizzes and events.

The Lounge Wizard Juicy Pale Ale is a must-try drink. Yes, this is a luscious pale ale, not a type of IPA. Although it has the hazy thickness of a luscious IPA, it is clearly a pale ale. The little hop bitterness is pleasant, but it never overpowers the flavor. Despite having low alcohol by volume (ABV), it’s vibrant and delicious.

Brewery Bent Paddle

1832 W Michigan St, Duluth, MN 55806
(218) 279-2722

You may cleanse yourself in the calm Lake Superior at this brewery. Since its inception in 2013, Bent Paddle became an Iron Range institution, brewing all of its beers using Great Lake water. Almost every beer is a winner, from their piney 14-Degree ESB to the famous Cold Press Black Coffee Ale. The Venture pilsner may even dispel your misconception that pilsners are dull. It now has a new, larger taproom across the street from its former site, providing you even another incentive to make the trip up north.

Harness IPA is an amazing classic that you can get from the Bent Paddle, which isn’t particularly well-known for this type. The Harness is an IPA that is strong, hops, and wonderful. If you’re asking what occurred with the hazy, creamy, and brut IPAs that used to want to smack you in the teeth, pick up Harness.

Fair State Brewing Cooperative

2506 NE Central Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55418
(612) 444-3209

Fair State is all too frequently neglected in the busy craft beer landscape. It has a distinct voice, thanks in part to its reputation for excellent sours. There are more sours and Bretts in the taproom of Northeast Minneapolis than you could ever taste in one sitting. Even those who haven’t tried the sour Kool-Aid may like the delightfully mild Roselle; the kettle sour Saison infused with hibiscus. A hophead will, however, find much to enjoy in the genuinely superb Mirror Universe, which has been placed on the Best IPAs in America list by Thrillist many times.

Spirit Foul, their trademark dish, is back. While Mirror Universe is one of the greatest IPAs out there, the local devotion to Spirit Foul is an exception. Fans of sports teams that have ended up losing (basically every Minnesotan) can’t get enough of it, and they’re not wrong.

Indeed Brewing

711 NE 15th Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55413
(612) 843-5090

Indeed, the brewery produces a large number of beers. That may not be a nice thing in the wrong hands. However, no one complains here, particularly if you’re drinking beers in the modest but welcoming taproom. Peach Bum, Let It Ride, and Let It Roll are just a few of the seasonal IPAs on tap.

Oh, and pick up a bottle of pale ale Day Tripper. You will have no regrets.

Brewery Lift Bridge

1900 Tower Dr W, Stillwater, MN 55082
(888) 430-2337

A few breweries in Minnesota have strong ties to the state’s rural traditions and history. One of these is the famous Lift Bridge. The Farm Girl Saison, if a beverage could convey a brewery’s tale, it would be it. It’s so completely Minnesotan that just one drink may have you learning about Walter Mondale’s boyhood and Warroad hockey. The east-Minnesota institution will soon open a new taproom, offering you yet another incentive to visit Stillwater.

Modist Brewing

505 N 3rd St, Minneapolis, MN 55401
(612) 454-0258

Minnesota’s most inventive location could be the North Loop brewery. They aren’t attempting to appeal to everyone. Modist stands out because it always seems to be having a good time, even when craft beer might feel a bit stuffy. It’s worth going to the taproom regularly because of the bold designs, unusual ingredients, and fresh styles.

Fulton Beer

414 N 6th Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55401
(612) 333-3208

Fulton, a veteran of the garage taproom scene, might be one of Minnesota’s best-kept secrets. The Sweet Child of Vine is a sweet hoppy favorite, while the Lonely Blonde is a go-to lunchtime drink. Fulton’s calling card has always been doing basic things very well, but there is plenty of room for inventiveness as well. Its taproom, which just opened a new Airstream-housed kitchen managed by the Executive Chef called Joe Majeski, is filled with great brews like the Mosaic-hopped 300, which has become a regular feature. It’s also a great place to get a beer before seeing a game featuring the Timberwolves, Minnesota Twins, Lynx, or Vikings.

Minneapolis’s Best Breweries with Food

If you’re hungry, here are a few of our favorite Minneapolis breweries that serve excellent food as well:

Able Seedhouse + Brewery

1121 Quincy St NE, Minneapolis, MN 55413
(612) 405-4642

Able is a terrific location with amazing beers and plenty of open sitting. Animales Barbecue Co. has a beer garden that becomes quite crowded since the barbecue cuisine they offer right there is excellent. It’s like having a constant food truck on the premises.

Then there’s MN Nice Cream, a well-known ice cream parlor in the Twin Cities. The beers are fantastic. They feature a simple menu than their counterparts, which is beneficial when you don’t want to be bombarded by choices.

Day Block Brewing Co.

1105 S Washington Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55415
(612) 617-7793

Day Block is among the few breweries inside the metro area that serves food and has a complete bar. Pizza, salads, sandwiches, and a range of bar snacks are available. This isn’t your normal bar fare, either. Most of the ingredients are sourced locally, and all of their dishes are prepared from scratch. You won’t only find pepperoni or cheese pizza here; they also have Crab Rangoon, Pollo Diablo, and Bahn Mizza, to name a few. Their salads are flavorful and fresh. If you choose, you may even construct your own. You must try their pickle flight or candied bacon if you’re looking for something new. You’re good to go with a beer!

The best breweries in Minneapolis offer a huge variety of beers that you definitely should try out if you love beers.
