What kind of beer does Arizona offer? The answer might surprise you. From microbreweries to craft breweries, Arizona has a wide variety of craft beers. However, the town of Surprise, AZ, has limited options, as we could only find one local craft brewery currently in operation.

State 48 Brewery in Surprise is the first of State 48’s locations and has a 10-barrel brewing system. They brew seasonal and specialty craft beer at this location. They have a full kitchen and a wood-fired pizza oven featuring Neapolitan-style pizza. If you want to take your favorite pup, they also have a large, dog-friendly patio.
Beyond their Surprise brewery, State 48 has several popular locations in the Phoenix area, each with good beer and food. The Surprise location has a sizeable patio with outdoor seating on days cool enough not to melt your face.
We recommend trying their Watermelon Fruit Ninja IPA, which comes in at 7.5% ABV and 60 IBUs.
